The Ladies

Well, well, well. The ladies were certainly in a different league than the men this evening. If this competition were really fair, they would pick the 4 with the least amount of votes instead of the 2 guys 2 gals thing. I don't think that there was any lady that was worse than some of the guys and it's to bad that 2 of them will have to go home in light of that. With that being said, there were a few people who really stood out for me tonight. Sabrina, Jordan, Melinda and of course Lakisha who really brought the house down. The weakest ones for me were Amy, Nicole, Antonella, and Alaina. Of those 4, Antonella and Alaina are probably going home which is unfortunate because I like their voices.

Lakisha said she sings in church. Man, I really need to start going to church. She was fantastic!!

The Guys

Well, I don't really know what to make of American Idol tonight. I was really disappointed in the performances. My husband was rating them on his sleep-o-meter which obviously ain't good. There was no one performance that I can really point out as a standout which is a real shame because I did predict a guy to win this year. For me the best performances of the evening were Phil and Jarrod. Phil kinda scared me in the beginning but I think he pulled out a decent performance in the end. I thought that Jarrod sounded good. I was hesitant when I realized that he was doing a Brian McKnight song because I love Brian McKnight and that way things were looking I was afraid he'd f*&k it up, but he did allright. My bottom 3 were Rudy, Paul and Sanjaya. I never call in and vote on these shows, but I can't imagine them moving on. Obviously, only 2 will go and I think it's going to be 2 of those 3.

YIKES

Wow - I really hated the performances tonight. No one blew me away, but I suppose I can't always be blown away. I have been a huge fan of Dilana, Magni and Ryan since day 1. One's gone and I think another will go tomorrow. Best of luck to them. I've already made my feelings known as far as SN is concerned. Maybe the song tomorrow will change my mind, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

My picks for the bottom 3 are Dilana, Magni and Lukas. I know the youngins' may keep Lukas out of the bottom 3, but really. His Livin' on a prayer was torture. I wanted to change the channel, but it was like watching a train wreck. I just had to see it through to the end. I'm picking Dilana to go home. She's been the villian for a couple of weeks now and I think they'll send her packing.

PS - I don't expect to be anywhere near the top ten after I vote this week.

Final Six

The performers were INCREDIBLE tonight! These guys are definately the cream of the crop. It is really getting difficult to see and hear a performance and say that person is definately in the bottom three. With that being said, I really have a serious dilemma. Like everyone else, I have my favourites. Problem I'm having is based on the two songs that I've heard from Supernova thus far, I really don't know if I want any of the six left fronting this band. Maybe they can do better and perform better songs without this band. I'm not trying to be disrespectful of SN. I'm not a musician, but I am a music lover and I know what I like. Last week I thought Toby was so much better than the song he was singing. At least there were no chickadees on stage. Anyway. That's my little stream of consciousness thing...on to tonights performances.

Everyone was great for me. I thought they really put a lot of thought and effort into the songs that the public had chosen for them to perform.

LUKAS - Loved, loved, loved the arrangement of this song. I thought the stops were great.

MAGNI - I'm a Magni fan so he can't really do wrong in my eyes. At least he hasn't yet. I thought he sounded Amazing on this song.

RYAN - Thought the performance was great. I had a "Great Balls of Fire" flashback but I enjoyed it. He is really giving a lot in his performances.

STORM - What can I say. The woman can just sing, she can perform. She is an all around entertainer. Toby was perfect backing her and I disagree with Dave...don't think he stole any of her fire and certainly don't think he was even trying to in any way.

TOBY - Was a great song for his voice. I liked it a lot better than Lukas' version of it. My hubby disagrees, but hey...he has the right to disagree. Thought his interaction with the audience was great.

DILANA - Oh mother mother. Talk about hitting it outta the frickin' park. I just looked over at my husband and said "Mother Fker" She was...I don't want to saw Awesome or Amazing or Incredible. I'll just say "Mother Fker"

Bottom 3

Difficult but here it is.

Storm

Toby

Lukas

I have a feeling I am going to be way off from what the voters will pick, but that's my bottom 3 as I rated them while watching. Of course I'm going back to watch everyone again before I actually vote (hee hee).

My Say

Ok. I wasn't really going to say anything about this, but after watching the last episode again I can't help myself.

How stupid did SN make themselves look having four chicks gyrating on stage (which added nothing to the performance in my humble opinion)when Gilby went off on Jill for playing the sex card. Just a little hypocritical. Also made the band look a little dated to me. That could have come straight outta any Crue video from the 80's . Just my opinion

The Good, The Bad, and The Awesome

This is the first time that I'm voicing my opinion here. It is just that...MY opinion so here goes.

I thought this was the best show of the season so far. The performances were diverse and it is getting harder for me to come up with my bottom three. The difficulty for me is that although most of what I base my evaluation on is the voice, it is a rock band so I look at the total perfomance, the appearance, interaction with the band. All of that. With that said, here's what I thought of tonight's performances.

DILANA - She was amazing, as always. She looked very comfortable up there with Gilby and while this was not my favourite perfomance by her, she definately held her own and did a great job.

JILL - I liked Jill a lot in the beginning, but I don't think she's really stepping it up enough. She has a great powerful voice and she seems to sometimes not quite know how to harness that power and use it to her best advantage. I thought it was a pretty good performance. She's like this little ball of fire and I enjoy watching her. Not the best vocals for me this week however.

RYAN - I've liked him from the start and I'm glad to see that he's changing it up and showing the band different aspects of his talent. Not sure if he's the right guy to front this band, but I liked his performance tonight.

STORM - Really not much I can say about Storm. She is another awesome one who consistently entertains and turns in a good performance. I always cringe a bit inside when someone tries to sing Queen, but I thought she pulled it off. She didn't try to over sing it. She was kinda still and quiet and let the quality of her voice shine through. Loved her as usual.

ZAYRA - I'm kinda up and down about her every week. I always seem to have her in the bottom three and on elimination night she turns in a performance that blows me away. I love how theatrical she is and enjoy watching her even if I don't always enjoy listening to her. Her voice is strange for me. I think she does have a good voice but there's just something that's a little off for me. I'm not sure if it's that she doesn't enunciate her words enough or what. I happen to love the song she did tonight and loved the way she did it. Not putting her in the bottom three this week.

JOSH - Josh is another one that I'm usually divided about. My husband thinks that he has a "twang" to his voice that he doesn't really like. I like Josh's voice and I like the soulful groove that he has. I thought his performance was fairly good tonight. Not his best, but I think it was good enough to see him through to next week.

MAGNI - He has been my favourite guy in the competition since week 1. I think that he turns in incredible performances every week and his voice is incredible. Loved, loved, loved his performance tonight and would not be surprised if he got the encore.

PATRICE - Not much to really say about Patrice. I liked her performance the first week and it's been pretty much downhill for me since then. She has a good voice and some power behind it. Perhaps it's song choices that are not working for me. Sorry to say that I think she's going home this week.

LUKAS - Thought his performance was great this week. Lukas doesn't really have any middle ground with me as far as vocals are concerned. He either sounds great or he sucks. Tonight he sounded great. Even with the vocals varying for me, I always enjoy watching him. I've certainly heard a lot worse on the radio and like I said, he always performs (ok....he didn't perform last week, but everyone is entitled to an off day). I think he's the other strong contender for the encore this week.

TOBY - I generally like Toby and enjoy his performances. I loved him tonight. The megaphone was for me the low point of this performance, but it wasn't bad enough to leave me with a bad impression. Loved the way he changed up a great classic song.

Can't wait for next week
